Properties and stability: the resistivity is larger than the corresponding metal, 

and the temperature coefficient of resistance is positive, but becomes negative 

at 500℃. Easy to interact with hydrochloric acid and hydrofluoric acid
Synthesis method:
1) Elemental Si and metal lanthanum powder are mixed proportionally, pressed 

and melted in vacuum.
2) The mixture of La, Si and Hg is heated in quartz tube by electric furnace at 

about 450℃ for 10 ~ 12h, and the excess mercury is distilled by bending tube. 

After the mercury is collected at the cold end of the tube, the product is heated 

at the hot end of the tube to 450 ~ 600℃ for annealing treatment.
Uses: 

Often used in laser lighting, fluorescent glass film optical coating, light-emitting 

diode, chip integration.
