Boron powder usage

        Boron powder is a black or dark brown powder that can react with fluorine

at room temperature and is not corroded by hydrochloric acid and hydrofluoric

acid aqueous solutions. Boron powder Mr10.81. ρ 2.37g/cm3 (amorphous); 2.34

~2.46g/cm3 (crystal). Melting point 2177~2301 ℃. Boiling point 2550~2658 ℃.

Boron has the maximum volumetric heat, second only to beryllium in weight heat.

Boron powder is insoluble in water, soluble in boiling nitric acid and sulfuric acid,

as well as most molten metals such as copper, iron, manganese, aluminum, and

calcium. It is widely used in fields such as metallurgy, electronics, medicine, ceramics,

nuclear industry, chemical industry, etc.

The role of boron powder:

1.   In terms of energy, boron should be the best non-metallic fuel for initiating

     explosive device additives. Moreover, boron powder has an irregular shape

     and a large specific surface area, which greatly reduces its ignition temperature;

2.  Boron powder is also an important raw material for producing high-purity boron

     halides and preparing other boride raw materials;

3.  Oxygen free copper smelting deoxidizer, adding a small amount of boron powder

     during the metal smelting process, on the one hand, acts as a deoxidizer to prevent

     metal oxidation at high temperatures;

4.  As an alloy component in special metal products, it forms alloys and improves

     the mechanical properties of metals.

5.  Boron powder can also be used as a welding aid;

6.  Solid rocket propellant;

7.  Automotive airbag initiator;

8.  Magnesium carbon brick additives for high-temperature steelmaking furnaces;
